Anonymous protest vis a vis Church of Scientology HQ in the Castlereagh Street, January 17

Who is ANONYMOUS?
We are a group of people without boundaries, without any one leader.

We are doctors, lawyers, artists, journalists, students. We are your brothers, mothers, neighbours. All of these people, all of us. Anonymous can be anybody. We are everywhere.

Anonymous are not “Cyber-Terrorists.” This is merely a label we have been branded with by the Church of Scientology to instill fear into the general public. As the Church cannot refute any of the claims that have been laid against them, they must resort to slandering their critics. We have organised and participated in peaceful protests, which have all gone without incident, and have cooperated with the NSW police at every turn. We have agreed that our method of operation will always be a non-violent, legal, leaderless resistance, against the powerful, totalitarian, and criminal Church of Scientology.

Anonymous wears masks/facial coverings to reinforce anonymity and protects us from the Church of Scientology’s unethical acts of stalking. While initially being a minor problem here in Australia in the beginning of the movement, it has now become essential to disguise our identities as the Church of Scientology has already demonstrated one of its most controversial and criticised policies, Fair Game, on several individuals within Anonymous.

Our goal is to make people aware of the nature of the Church of Scientology. We support freedom of information, freedom of religion and freedom of belief. We see how it destroys people’s lives, how it harasses them with legal action, how it drives them to empty their wallets, and more importantly, alienate them from their loved ones. We see how it relentlessly harasses its critics by means of legal action, through to underhanded methods and threats. We are not religious bigots. We are not against the religion that is Scientology - we are against the practices of the organisation that is the Church of Scientology. Religion should be free. It shouldn’t empty your bank account, destroy your family, or destroy you.
