Women in Black was started in 1988 by Israeli women, standing each Thursday in the heart of Tel Aviv and calling on their government to end its occupation of Palestinian lands. The womenstand in silend vigil, holding posters that state their aim and wearing black, the traditional colour of mourning.
The movement has spread to 122 countris.
The Sydney WiB stand in silent vigil on steps of the Sydney Town Hall every Thursday evening, calling for peace and justice for the Palestinian people.
