RAFW 2010: Xiomara Australia

The Emerge - exhibition located in the busy hub of RAFW at The Overseas Passenger Terminal (OPT), presented during fashion week over 50 hand-picked established and emerging designers of jewellery, shoes, bags, belts, sunglasses, hair accessories, lifestyle, leather goods, watches, hats, gloves, scarves and more!One of them was Xiomara.



Xiomara Australia is a lavish high end footwear label established by Eileen Chua. Inspired by the extravagance of 18th Century royalty to the elegance of silver screen sirens, Xiomara shoes are suberbly crafted with exquisite workmanship. Adorned with the finest fabrics and Swarovski crystals they are the picture perfect accessory for any special occasion.

RAFW 2010: Kooey

Kooey is an Australian owned and operated swimwear label that draws its inspiration from Australia’s flora, fauna and coastline while calling on Australia’s indigenous heritage.

The name Kooey is distinctly Australian, a phonetic derivation of the well known Australian call to attract attention over long distances –‘cooee’ – Fitting for a swimwear label originating from one of the most geographically isolated countries on the map.

Artistic and unique Kooey is set apart from other swimwear brands. Kooey features distinctive Indigenous Australian dot-art prints imparting a heart and soul to the
Kooey brand.This traditional indigenous dot-art, both beautiful and intricate, delicately features throughout the entire collection adding to the uniqueness that is Kooey.

Kooey’s new Ningaloo Range is inspired by the stunning Ningaloo Reef. The Ningaloo Reef is a coral reef and limestone cape of astonishing biodiversity on the west coast of Australia.
It is home to some of the most amazing creatures in the world, including the Whale Shark in which heavily inspired this range.

The Indigenous Australian dot-art designs of the Ningaloo range are designed by artist Anne Hanning Kngwarreye from central Australia.

RAFW 2010: Fernando Frisoni

At the Cargo Theatre of the Sydney Overseas Passanger Terminal for Day 4 of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, there was a genuine hype surrounding the avant-garde stylings of Fernando Frisoni.

Frisoni, who began in menswear and now offers both men’s and women’s lines, is known for his relaxed tailoring and his contemporary take on classic stylings, and this collection was no exception. Presented to an electrifying soundtrack, out came a wave of bold, bright and truly modern outfits. Not shy of colour, the collection featured aquas, reds, blacks and whites on a range of flowing materials. (Rescu)

RAFW 2010: Nookie

Sydney designer Nikita Sernack’s bubbly personality always shines through into her label Nookie. Her designs are vivacious and fun, and perfect for Summer nights and long days at the beach. Nikita brought her latest collection for the label to RAFW on Day 3, to an absolutely packed house.

Nookie’s fun and frivolous aesthetic is bound to be a hit amongst party girls and stylish beach goers, with it’s selection of sexy tube dresses, cute shorts and relaxed knits.(Rescu)

RAFW 2010: Saily Koeswanto

Sally Koeswanto was graduated from the prestigious Whitehouse School of Design in Sydney in 1994 and while studying had the honour of representing Australian in the Smirnoff Fashion Awards. She was also a finalist in the Australian Cotton Foundation Awards.

Upon returning to Indonesia in 1995, Sally Koeswanto opened her own fashion business in made-to-order clothing. After a numbers of successful solo fashion shows and her creative fashion outlook has led Sally Koeswanto to be a national style icon.

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

The Perth-based brand Flannel showed off some style in a pretty, fluffy and feminine way at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week today.

Flannel was launched by Kristy Lawrence, and specialises in effortless elegance designed to be worn at home. The label features beautiful sleepwear amongst other pieces.

RAFW 2010: Ginger & Smart

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week at Circular Quay (in this year from 3 to 7 May) has become the meeting place for some of the nation’s most creative talent. An event that showcases Australian best designers, stylists and producers to commentators, marketers and everyone in between.



Australian luxury brand GINGER & SMART is about creating inspiring product to a design-literate customer. Always sophisticated and sharply modern, ‘Chic, Modern and Effortlesss’ is the strict style mantra for each collection.

The inspiration for this year RAFW collection is The Transcendent, or the fourth state of consciousness, lying beyond waking, dreaming and sleeping.

Magnetic prints illustrate this blissful wakefulness and future beauty, through diffused angles and blurred perspective – the light and images you see when you close your eyes.

The depth of colour palette meanders from calm shades of nude, lilac and mint to vibrant injections of blush and grounded tones of olive, smoke and oily blue.

Silhouettes are fluid, modern and effortless with sleeveless jackets, sexy slouchy trousers and chic dresses worn with silk printed lingerie.

RAFW 2010: Rachel Gilbert

Luxury Fabrics and embellished hand beaded evening dresses are the signature style of Australian based designer Rachel Gilbert. Previously based in New York as Head Designer for Nicky Hiltons label, Rachel Gilbert has built her own Fashion Empire ‘Rachel Gilbert”

Gilbert has built an enviable reputation working alongside the who’s who of the industry. Now based in Sydney, Rachel Gilbert has already proving to be a worldwide success since re-launching the label in 2007 at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

Beginning her design education at the prestigious Whitehouse Institute of Design Australia, Rachel Gilbert has learnt from the best in the industry- including working for Lisa Ho and Morrissey.
